How it works

Here’s an example of how social tokens are used across the internet. This includes Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 applications

Minting

Anyone can create their own social token

Anna Hawk is a blogger and youtuber who is starting to explore Web 3.0. She creates $HAWKS, her own personalized
social token on Roll.

She decides on her initial token supply and vesting period

There are only 10 million $HAWKS that will ever exist. Anna will use the first 3 million $HAWKS to give to her online audience and use Roll to have the other 7 million $HAWKS released over a one-year period.

After Anna has set up her community and use cases, she deposits 2 million $HAWKS into the Roll Memberships product and smart contracts to have users mint lots of $HAWKS tokens in exchange for ETH.

She uses Roll Minting to determine the lot size, the amount of ETH to pay per lot, and to create two separate minting events: one whitelisted minting event for her longtime subscribers to mint first and a public event for anyone to mint $HAWKS for ETH

Earn

Use Roll to send social tokens anywhere

Anna uses Roll earn codes to send 100 $HAWKS exclusively to her 5,000 VIP mailing list subscribers as a link and the rest to her youtube audience as a QR code at the end of her announcement video.

Roll makes sending $HAWKS as easy as sending a message. Each user can click the earn code and immediately claim $HAWKS as easy as they can click a link or snap a QR code.

Reward

Spend social tokens and hold to gain access

Anna sets up a discord exclusively for $HAWKS holders. She used a token-gated access app powered by Roll to only let $HAWKS holders into the discord. Her audience connects their Roll wallet to the app in order to gain entry into the discord

Anna uses Roll Rewards to create opportunities to engage with her in her discord and on her youtube for different amounts of $HAWKS. 50 $HAWKS to ask a question in her monthly youtube AMA and 100 $HAWKS to get a shoutout in her discord.

Staking and Liquidity

Plug social tokens into DeFi

Since $HAWKS are an ERC20 token, Anna can use Roll Staking and $HAWKS on other Ethereum applications like the decentralized exchange Uniswap.

First, Anna goes to Uniswap and uses some of her Ether (ETH) and some her $HAWKS to create a market

With Roll Staking, Anna can now create a staking contract that automagically gives $HAWKS to people that contribute ETH and $HAWKS to her Uniswap pool, increasing $HAWKS liquidity

Now $HAWKS can be bought, sold or traded by anyone on the internet. Increasing liquidity with Roll Staking means larger trades can be executed in the $HAWKS market.

Since $HAWKS are an ERC20 token, Anna can use Roll Staking and $HAWKS on other Ethereum applications like the decentralized exchange Uniswap.

Since Roll Staking works with any ERC20 token, Anna has also set up a staking contract the gives $HAWKS to anyone that holds her friend’s social token $KATE. By staking $KATE, everyone will begin to receive $HAWKS

All of this is uniquely possible through the Roll social token infrastructure, powered by the blockchain technology.
